About

Written slowly, on purpose

Fieldnote is written by Nadia Ellis and Tomas Reiner. She spent nine years as a magazine editor and now writes about craft and attention. He cooks, walks a great deal, and is responsible for most of the arguments about kitchen knives.

We started this because the writing we kept returning to was never the fastest writing. It was the piece someone sat with for a month. So we publish when a piece is finished, which is usually every few weeks and occasionally not at all.

Everything here is first-hand. If we recommend a habit, we have kept it for at least a year. If we drop one, we write about that too.
